Celebrity makeup artist AJ Crimson, creator of the AJ Crimson beauty line, passed away on Wednesday, March 30th.
A veteran makeup artist, Crimson was self-taught and has an extensive background as a makeup artist, having worked with celebrities such as Brandy, Missy Elliott, Regina King, and Angela Bassett to name a few. He has more than two decades of professional experience in the makeup industry.
It is believed that he was among the first beauty industry practitioners to introduce a luxury cosmetic line which had at its core the needs of women of color.
Additionally, he has used his products on the set of major productions such as “Scandal,” “The View,” “The Real,” “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,” “American Horror Story,” and “Black Panther.”
AJ Crimson’s family released the following statement: “AJ Crimson was a makeup industry leader that set a standard of beauty that was elevated, aesthetically pleasing, and accessible to people of all color. We as a family are heartbroken and devastated by his passing, but thankful for the lessons that he laid on each of us with his truth, directness, and leadership. We thank you all for your kind words, tweets, and posts, as AJ was an inspiration to us as much as he was a bright light to the rest of the world. There are no words that can sum up his whole. Until we meet again.”
There is no information on the cause of death, but TXTURE will keep you posted.
