Being “Civilized” used to be such a daunting task. Taking “Civilized” and changing the narrative, Media Maven Karen Civil has created a revenue to not only give back to the community, but to change lives as well!
Creating the event Live Civil Day, she has pulled together several resources such as: Adidas, Elizabeth Public Schools, and Beats By Dre, just to name a few, to join her in her efforts in building a team in the community!
Kicking off summer with some of the most prominent names, the purpose in Civil Day is to empower inner-city youth of her hometown on the importance of post-secondary education, health & wellness, and pursuing their passions throughout the duration of the summer and beyond.
Civil Day is a day of giving and promoting positivity benefitting inner- city youth. The fun filled day will include a private basketball camp featuring professional athletes, basketball tournament, activations, give-a-ways, celebrity surprises and more.
Irving Roland, Latif Rivers and Allen Houston are just a few of the celebrities coming out to celebrate the community.

Making this event free and open to the public allows the community to come out and celebrate with the best of the league! If you are in the Elizabeth, Jersey area tomorrow, July 12th, make sure you head out to Elizabeth High School’s Dunn Sports Center (600 Pearl Street) at 3pm!
This is a day not just for the community. This is a day to celebrate YOU!
